NPC Begins Enumeration Demarcation Today (Daily Trust)

The National Population Commission (NPC) will today
commence the second phase of the Enumeration Area
Demarcation (EAD) exercise in 29 states of the country
ahead of the 2017 population and housing census.
The Chairman of the commission, Chief Eze Duruiheoma
who disclosed this in Abuja, revealed that  1,214 staff would
be engaged as demarcating officials in the exercise which
would last till March 14.

He said the decision to deploy only staff of the commission
for the exercise was to ensure commitment of field staff as
well accountability and non-interference. He said that
adequate logistics had been put in place for effective
deployment of personnel and materials for the exercise.
The NPC boss said the commission had already commenced
aggressive sensitization of the populace at the grassroots
in the selected LGAs and interpersonal communication with
community leaders, even as he solicited for accommodation
and security of staff during the exercise.
Describing the exercise as the bedrock on which the entire
census architecture stands, the NPC boss said getting it
right is not just an option, but an absolute necessity in the
quest to deliver to the nation an accurate, reliable and
acceptable head count.
