Father Arrested For Siezing Daughter's Phone

When Ronald Jackson found a text he thought was rude and
inappropriate on his then-12-year-old daughter’s phone in
September 2013, he took the cell away. But the child’s
mother, Michelle Steppe, got mad at his action and she
called the police.
WFAA reported that the 36-year-old, who hails from Grande
Prairie, Texas, had been charged with theft of property of at
least $50 but under $500 after confiscating his daughter’s
iPhone 4 when he found an inappropriate text in September
2013.
Shortly thereafter, Jackson recieved a citation for the
“theft,” a Class C misdemeanor. Jackson was then offered a
plea deal in January 2014 if he returned the phone, attained
legal representation, and requested a jury trial.
That’s when the city attorney’s office refiled the case with
a harsher offense, a Class B misdemeanor, punishable to up
to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
After a warrant was placed on him, Jackson was arrested
and taken into custody in April 2015, but managed to post
the $1,500 bail to avoid incarceration during his trial.
Eventually, the judge ordered for Jackson to be found not
guilty, citing insufficient evidence to continue the case.
Jackson described the ordeal to CBSDFW:
“I was being a parent. You know, a child does
something wrong, you teach them what’s right. You
tell them what they did wrong and you give them a
punishment to show that they shouldn’t be doing
that.”
The teen’s mother, Michelle Steppe, told the court on
Monday that she called police the day that Jackson took
the phone, and that they went to Jackson’s home and asked
for the iPhone back, but Jackson refused.
Jackson defended his actions to WFFA:
“At that point, I decided the police don’t interfere
with my ability to parent my daughter.”
But Steppe felt she was justified, as she told WFAA:
“You can’t take someone’s property, regardless if
you’re a parent or not.”
Jackson reportedly was not a part of his daughter’s
life until she was seven years old, but following the
incident, he told CBSDFW that he “can’t ever have a
relationship with them again.”
He was offered a plea deal in January 2014 if he would
return the phone. Instead, Jackson hired an attorney and
requested a jury trial.
The case moved to Dallas County and, unbeknownst to
Jackson, a warrant was issued for his arrest. The police
showed up at his door around 2 a.m. in April 2015, and
Jackson was handcuffed and taken to jail.
“It made no sense to me for them to show up and
make a big deal out of something that was a small
thing,” Jackson said. “I couldn’t believe they would
go to this extent for a cellphone. It didn’t seem
right.” He posted $1,500 bail and was released after
a night in jail.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” John Cook, one of
Jackson’s defense attorneys, told
KHOU Wednesday. “You would think we were on the
Jerry Springer Show.”
After just a two-day trial in which Jackson’s daughter, now
15, testified Dallas County Criminal Court Judge Lisa Green
ordered the jury to find Jackson not guilty, citing
insufficient evidence to prove a theft charge.
Steppe disagrees with the verdict. “Even if you purchase

something with your own money and have a receipt, it’s not
yours,” she said. “Someone can take it from you.”
He is now filing a Federal complaint of civil
rights violation due to the way he was treated by police and
the city attorney’s office. WFAA reports that Michelle
Steppe’s fiance is an officer with the Grande Prairie police
force.

CP's Aid Accused Of Flogging And Raping Lady To Coma

An aide to the Commissioner of Police, Railway Command,
Lagos State, identified as Agu, has been arrested for
allegedly raping and beating a lady until she fell into a
coma.
Punch Metro gathered that the incident happened inside the
policeman’s apartment in the Railway Police Barracks. It
was learnt that 31-year-old Agu had tricked the victim,
identified as Yeni, into the barracks. He was said to have
had s3x with her, which the victim submitted to. Later at
night, he allegedly woke her up for another round of s3x,
which Yeni refused. The duo were said to have struggled,
but the suspect allegedly overpowered her. He was said to
have assaulted and raped her.
The victim reportedly passed out.
The police authorities were said to have arrested Agu,
made him to face an orderly-room trial and dismissed him
from the force. A police source told our correspondent that
the incident happened on Sunday. It was learnt that the
suspect, who was married with a kid, had separated from
his wife. The source said, “He had a habit of sleeping with
all kinds of women. His wife separated from him due to his
infidelity. Last Sunday, he saw the lady on the road and
spoke to her. She agreed to the friendship and he invited
her to his apartment. We learnt that they had s3x, though
the lady said she was initially against it. After the s3x, they
both fell asleep, but the policeman woke her up for another
round of s3x and she refused. Agu hit her with some
objects. He flogged her till she sustained serious injuries
which made her fell into a coma. He still had his way with
her. It was the following morning that the police authorities
in the barracks were informed and he was arrested.”
The source, who claimed to have been in the room, said the
floor was dotted with Yeni’s blood. It was learnt that while
Agu was detained at the EBJ Police Area Command, the
victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, where she
was resuscitated and treated.
Another police source said the Railway command
conducted an orderly-room trial for the suspect and he was
dismissed. He said, “Some policemen followed him to his
room and collected his uniform and other police property in
his custody. He was then handed over to the police for
prosecution.”
Punch Metro was told that investigations had been
concluded and the suspect was about to be arraigned when
the detectives got a call to cancel the arraignment.bA
source said, “The detectives were done with investigations
and he was to be taken to court when they were told to let
go of the matter. As if that was not enough, he was
released and he is back in the barracks.”
Punch Metro visited the EBJ Area Command, but was told
the area commander was not available. Our correspondent
was referred to the police headquarters. On arriving at the
Nigeria Railway Police Command Headquarters, he was
directed to the office of the CP, Pius Imue.
However, an aide, who enquired on how our correspondent
got to know about the case, said the CP said he would not
react.
He said, “Who gave you the story? I am interested in
knowing because I don’t know how you heard such a thing.
The CP said he does not want to talk about it.”
However, a police source in the command, confirmed the
story. He said the victim was still going to the FMC for
medication, adding that she sustained injuries in different
parts of her body.
She said, “The girl was truly admitted in the hospital, but
she was discharged the same day. Her injuries were minor.
She was only hurt in her legs, buttocks, and the forehead.

Lagos pastor arrested for raping and defiling step daughter

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 42yrs old
cleric, Pastor Chidiebere Ikpa, for allegedly raping his
stepdaughter, Ngozi (real names withheld), in the Surulere
area of the state.
Pastor Ikpa, who denied the allegation, told PUNCH that it
was a neighbour, identified only as Richard, that did defile
the 14-year-old girl, but he decided not to report the matter
to the police because he (Pastor Ikpa) had a forgiving
character.
But Ngozi, an SS2 student, who eventually reported the
incident to police last Friday, January 15, insisted that she
was r*ped by the pastor several times.
The girl added that whenever she told her mother about it,
she usually shouted her down, and refused to take any
action on the matter.
Pastor Ikpa, who hails from the Bende LGA of Abia State,
was arrested by policemen from Isokoko division, while
Ngozi was taken for medical examination at the Mirabel
Centre, Ikeja.
The test reportedly confirmed that the girl’s private parts
had been “tampered with.”
A police source told PUNCH that Ngozi reported that Pastor
Ikpa had allegedly been sleeping with her since she was 10
years old and was the one who deflowered her.
She said, “The victim claimed that the suspect deflowered
her when she was 10 years. He had allegedly been
s*xually molesting the girl since that time.
“The victim’s mother is culpable because she knew about
the abuses. The girl said it was when her mother failed to
take concrete steps that she came to the police.”
But the pastor said he flogged the girl last Thursday and
she disappeared from the house, not knowing she came to
the police to lie against him.
He said, “The girl started living with me when she was 12
or thereabout. That was around 2012. It is not true that I
r*ped her. I flogged her on Thursday for being rude and
she did not return home after school. We did not see her
until Friday. She had been with the police.
“The girl has a boyfriend; his name is Richard. He is the
manager of a hotel on Rasak Balogun Street. If the medical
result shows someone has been sleeping with Ngozi, then
it is Richard, not me.
“It is a mystery to me that the girl is claiming that I slept
with her. When we caught Richard and confronted him
sometime last year, he started begging. The mistake I
made was that I did not report to police.
“My wife got furious and said we must report the matter to
the police, but the man started begging, sending text
messages to me. I forgave him. I am a pastor.
“I was working under a church, but since I moved to this
area, I have not pastored any church.”
Again, Ngozi insisted that Pastor Ikpa was lying and he had
slept with her on several occasions.
She said, “The first time that he would r*pe me was about
five years ago. My mother sent me to give food to him in
his own house. I was then staying in my father’s house.
That was when he took advantage of me and r*ped me.
“The man he mentioned is not my boyfriend. Richard was
the man I reported to when I told my mother about the r*pe
and she did not believe me. Richard advised me to leave
everything to God.
“Sometimes, when everyone was sleeping, he would come
to the room where I was with my other sisters and he
would r*pe me. I would be hitting my sisters trying to wake
them, but they did not wake at such times.”
Police investigators are trying to find out the truth.
Question is, who is lying between Pastor and Ngozi?

OMG! Pregnant woman raped to death

22-year-old pregnant housewife, Aisha Abdullahi, pictured
above, was found raped and murdered at her home in Kano
yesterday January 20th.
According to Sahara reporters, sources at the Kano state
police command say the husband, Abdullahi Mohammed,
came back from an outing and met his wife defiled and in a
pool of her own blood.
The state Police spokesperson, DSP Musa Magaji Majia,
while confirming the incident, said a full scaled
investigation has been launched by the police.
It will be recalled that two weeks ago two men were
charged in a Kano Court for the murder of a housewife.
Another case of a murdered housewife was reported in
Ungogo Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State in
December of last year as well.
The deceased, who was known to be pregnant, was found in
a pool of blood when her husband returned home and
discovered her body.

Fake doctor arrested in Lagos

A 43yrs old man, Opeyemi Adesina, who allegedly paraded
himself as a consultant gynaecologist (taking care of
women body) with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital,
Idi-Araba, says he paid N100,000 to buy the seven forged
certificates he used.
Adesina was arrested on Tuesday by the Alakara Police
Division on Alowolodu Street in the Alapere in the Ketu area
of Lagos.
He was arrested after his landlord, Mr Akorede, wrote a
“save-my-soul” petition to the management of LUTH some
weeks ago that Adesina brought home female patients to
treat in his house and did abortions for them, among other
unwholesome practices, which could implicate him.
Akorede had further explained in the letter that when he
confronted Adesina, the "doctor" allegedly claimed to be a
consultant gynaecologist with LUTH, adding that he
(Adesina) brought the referral cases from the hospital to
his house so that he could have time to attend to them.
According to PUNCH, the LUTH authorities, who could not
find such name in the record of their consultants then
forwarded the letter to the police, and Adesina was
thereafter arrested.
It was gathered that the police also recovered the forged
certificates.
It was observed that the certificates included a fake MBBS
certificate of the University of Ibadan, and a fake
membership certificate of the Nigerian Medical
Association.
Speaking with PUNCH, Adesina said he paid N100,000 to
one Kolawole in Ibadan, Oyo State, to get all the
certificates, adding that he had used them for only three
years.
He said, “I bought the certificates from Kolawole in Ibadan.
That was three years ago. I bought them from him for
N100,000. He printed the seven certificates.
“I do not know where he stays. We did not meet in any
specific location. We usually met at fast food joints or any
agreed place. For instance, it was at Agodi Gate area that I
gave him the money and got the certificates. I decided to
use another name on the certificates.
“I forged them because I dropped out of the university. I
was actually studying Medicine. However, I dropped out in
the 500 level due to financial reasons.
“I married my wife about five years ago. She thought I was
a certified doctor. She actually came to me for treatment in
the Ketu area and that was how we met. We have a child.”
Adesina, who denied his landlord’s allegation, said he only
operated a laboratory where he attended to his
patients. He said, “Three years ago, I decided to get the
certificates just to cover up for the failure to finish my
university education.
“It is not true that I brought women to treat at home. The
truth of the matter is that I have a laboratory and the
women came there. I usually did tests for them and by the
time the test results were out, I would ask them to visit a
hospital for treatment.”
The suspect’s wife, Olawumi, pleaded that her husband
should be released as he had realised his mistake, and
would never venture into such again.
But the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP
Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect would be charged to
court as soon as investigation was over.

identified as Usman , for the money.

materials at the Oyingbo Market, got to know that another
person had given the money to Okorie, she got mad at him
and descended on him.

It was learnt that the matter was also reported to the Lagos
State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, and a
temporary shelter was provided for the boy, where he also
received medical attention.
The Enugu State born Okorie narrated his plight thus:
“I told my madam last Monday that I needed to buy a pair of
socks for school because my teachers would seize my
sandals without it. But she did not buy them, and I went to
collect money from our neighbour.
When she saw the pair of socks, she became angry and
started to beat me. I ran into the kitchen. That was where
she grabbed the electric kettle and poured the hot water on
me. It was around 7pm on Thursday.”
But in her defense, Obasi said she did not deliberately
brutalise the boy, adding that everyone knew she treated
Okorie like her son.
“On Monday, pupils resumed school, and Chinedu told me
he needed a pair of socks and I said I would buy them for
him. Unfortunately, when I came back, I forgot. Later, our
neighbour said Chinedu collected N100 from him to buy the
pair of socks. I was angry.
I queried him and warned him against the behaviour. On
Thursday, I gave him N100 to buy another pair of socks.
When he came back, he told me he used the money for
something else. So, I beat him up.
There were times when I gave him N1,000 to go and buy
fuel. He would spend three hours and later say he
misplaced the money. So, I disciplined him on Thursday.
He ran into the kitchen, and that was when I mistakenly
poured the water on him. I sell clothes at the Oyingbo
Market. He is my domestic help. I brought him from his
village in Enugu State about four years ago. The boy is
stubborn. I am not a bad woman.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo
Badmos , confirmed the arrest of Obasi, saying that the
suspect would be charged to court soon.

Ridiculous: prophet set church member on fire becaise he heard she won't burn

A prophet at the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Unity
Street in Abule-Egba, Lagos, yesterday, allegedly set a
member ablaze during service.
“Our prophet said the spirit of God whispered to him that I
would not burn if he sets me on fire. When I came out,
they poured kerosene on my body and set me ablaze. But,
unfortunately, I was burnt beyond recognition and before
the other church members could get water, the deed had
already been done,” The Nation quoted the victim, simply
identified as Mama Bosede, to have said.
On his part, the prophet told The Nation that he clearly
heard a voice instructing him to set a member on fire to
prove and confirm that God was in their midst.
“I heard the voice clearly, but I don’t know what
happened after we set fire on her. God has been speaking
to me since and it has been working, so I wonder why
now,” he said.
Following the incident, some members left the church for
fear of being the prophet’s next victim.
“I don’t pity her; she was the one who allowed herself to
be deceived by the prophet. Why did the prophet not try
the fire on himself or any of his family member?” a
resident, Irene Ohekina said.

“That fateful day, he banged the door, but no response

The prosecutor said that the accused damaged the door to

Police arrest man who kills a pregnant woman to use her for rituals

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has
arrested a 28-year old man, Edet Asuquo, from
Ikot Otu in the Itu Local Government Area for
allegedly murdering a pregnant woman.
The deceased, who came from Cross River State and
whose identity is unknown, was said to be a
customer to Asuquo who deals in oysters.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia
Nwawe, said on Wednesday that the suspect,
having sold the first part of his seafood to the
pregnant woman, lured her to his home claiming
that he had abundance of oysters at a cheaper rate.
According to her, on Monday, January 11, the
woman had innocently followed Asuquo to his
home, where she was killed and her corpse hidden
near a plantain tree on the premises.
The police said the suspect and four others at large
wanted to remove the foetus from the woman’s
wombs at night.
She said, “The suspect and those at large were
contracted by a village leader for N50,000, to kill a

Twitter planning to expand tweets from 140 characters to 10,000 characters

Twitter's most beloved features is set to change. The company is planning to extend its 140-character limit to as many as 10,000, according to a person familiar with the matter. Twitter’s fans were quick to complain that such a change, expected to be announced by the end of March, would spoil the brevity and speed of the real-time service.
The character limit that forces users to pen snappy tweets could give way to the longer essays found on Facebook. It could transform Twitter into more of a public blogging platform rather than one that is succinct and well-suited to quips and breaking news headlines.

This person said, however, that Twitter Inc. is aiming to retain the look and feel of the user timeline. For tweets that are longer than 140 characters, users will have to click and expand to see the rest of the text. As users write beyond the 140-character limit, Twitter will signal to them that they have crossed the threshold as a way to encourage brevity.
In a tweet on Tuesday after the news spilled out, co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted a screenshot of text, 1,317 characters with spaces, explaining his thinking behind the expansion. “We’ve spent a lot of time observing what people are doing on Twitter, and we see them taking screenshots of text and tweeting it,” Mr. Dorsey wrote. “Instead, what if that text…was actually text? Text that could be searched.  Text that could be highlighted. That’s more utility and power.” Despite the change, Mr. Dorsey said Twitter will “never lose that feeling” of speed, creativity and brevity.
"Despite the lamentations that the change will alter the spirit of Twitter, the truth is that users have been clawing for a longer character limit for some time. Loyal users often create so-called tweetstorms where they string a series of tweets together by replying to them in numerical succession. Users have also gone around the character restriction by attaching screenshots of longer text to their tweets.

In July 2015, Twitter expanded the 140-character limit on private messages to 10,000.
