Beware Of Fake Malaria Drugs In Circulation FG Warns Nigeria

The Federal Government has received a medical alert
that  two falsified drugs that contain zero active
pharmaceutical ingredients are presently in the Nigeria
market.
A statement from the ministry of health, said the drugs
are circulating in West and Central Africa.
According to the statement the two version of the drug
were circulating in Cameroon and Democratic Republic
of Congo.

56 Years-Old Man Remanded In Prison For Having Sex With His Daughter

A Surulere Magistrates’ Court, has given orders for 56-year-old man, Abdullahi Zakari, who allegedly
had sexual intercourse with his 18-year-old daughter,
is to remain behind bars pending the perfection of his
bail condition, a Lagos court has ruled
 the man should be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons
until the bail conditions were met.


The Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, had admitted the
accused to a bail of N500,000 with two responsible
sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties, she said, must be a blood relation
of the accused and the other must be living in his own
house.
In addition, the magistrate said the sureties must
show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State
Government.
Zakari, who lives at No.42, Gaskiya St., Ijora-Badia in
Apapa area, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
But the prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the
court that the accused committed the offence at his
apartment between February and August.
She said, “It is a shameful act that should not be
condoned.
“This is a serious offence and an abomination. The
complainant said the father used to fondle her breast
anytime she was in the room.
“The accused had sex with the daughter against her
wish.”
The offence contravened Section 258 of the Criminal
Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned to Sept.19 for mention.

Man Arrested And Imprisoned For Naming His Dog Buhari

The prosecutor, Inspector Itaita Ebibomini, said the
accused committed the offence on Saturday, August 13,
2016, at the Hausa section of Ketere Market in Sango-Ota,
in the Ota Magisterial District. The man who named his dog, ‘Buhari’, Joachim Iroko, aka
Joe, was remanded on Monday at the Ibara Prison
following his arraignment at the Ota Magistrate Court 2,
Ogun State.
He was charged to court by the police with conduct likely
to cause breach of the peace, in a case with suit number
MOT/617c/2016.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence was
punishable under Section 249 (d) of Criminal Law of Ogun
State, Nigeria, 2016.
The accused, who was represented by a counsel, U.
Michael, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The charge read, “That you, Joachim Iroko, aka Joe, and
others still at large, on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at about
5.30pm at the Ketere area, Sango, in the Ota Magisterial
District did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause
breach of the peace, by writing a name,Buhari,on a dog and
parading same in the Hausa section of Ketere Market,
Sango, thereby, committing an offence contrary to and
punishable under Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Law of
Ogun State, Nigeria, 2016.”

The Chief Magistrate, B. J. Ojikutu, admitted Iroko to bail in
the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, adding
that the sureties must be regular tax payers in the state.
“They must attach four passport photographs each to the
bail bond, depose to affidavits of being gainfully employed,
and reside in the court’s jurisdiction,” he added.
The case was adjourned till September 19, 2016.
Family members had yet to perfect the bail for the
suspect’s release. He was subsequently taken to the Ibara
Prison.

Tragedy; Woman Allows Dog To Bite Boy To Death

Essex police said a 29-year-old woman has been
arrested for allowing dog to be out of control,
after boy dies of injuries sustained at property in
Halstead the boy has died after being bitten by a dog in Essex.
The incident happened at a property in a residential
street in Halstead at 5.40pm on Thursday.
A 29-year-old woman has been arrested for allowing a
dog to be dangerously out of control and injuring a
person, Essex police said. The dog has been seized by
police and placed in kennels.
The boy was taken to hospital but died from his
injuries, police said.
Earlier this week a 52-year-old man was killed by a
dog that had been returned to its owner despite
concerns that it was dangerous.
David Ellam was out walking with his Yorkshire terrier
close to his home in Huddersfield on Monday when he
was attacked by another dog. He later died in hospital.
West Yorkshire police said the animal had been seized
by police following a visit by a dog warden in June,
and had been returned to its owner on 8 August after
it was determined that it was not a banned breed.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)
has said it will open an investigation into Monday’s
attack.
